Japan/Taiwan trip - Day 3

Finally I have the time again to blog. Update you again why am I so free. NOW, continue my Japan/Taiwan trip before I forget every little detail anymore. I am extremely guilty for that. The links for the trip:

Day 3 was mostly walking and I almost died back in the hostel. Imagine the previous day you just went to USJ and came back with sunburnt all over your body and next day you had to walk under sun for the whole day again. Definitely not something that sound nice and comfy. But to save on the transport expenses, we had to plan this way because Japan really has very expensive transport fee. The first stop was to Ōsakajō aka Osaka castle. As the saying how could you say you've been to Osaka if you have not visit Ōsakajō? So here I am to take a look at this grand historical building. The subway station for Ōsakajō is Tanimachi 4-chome station, so  look for this station if you want to visit the castle. The transport fee for me from our hostel is 240YEN.

Osaka castle. Pretty impressive I would say.

I wasnt a fan of museum thingy unless it was something that captivate me e.g Egypt pyramid exhibition with mummies myth or so. So we left the osaka castle after taking these photos. If you want to go into the Osaka castle for the museum, I believed that entrance ticket is 600YEN. Yup, so we saved 600YEN for that.

So we headed to our next planned destination - Tenjimbashi suiji. Apparently it is the longest shopping district where it stretches all the way from North to South. Believe it or not, we walked our way to Tenjimbashi shopping district. I was dying under the hot sun and the shoes which made my legs blister. A lesson learnt, always wear comfy shoes if more walking is required. Thats why I cant understand how girls can wear so nicely for trips.

Went in to this shop to have our brunch because it just look so local and simple.

This is 2-chrome and there is all the way to 7-chrome. I couldn't remember did we walk all the way to 7-chrome or did we not because there is not much for us to see (our opinion)

However, the night after USJ, we googled randomly for some interesting cafes and chanced upon this owl cafe that is along the street of Tenjimbashi, so why not visit! It seemed pretty cool. It is called the Owl family Osaka.
Here's the address: 1-10-13 Tenjinbashi, Kita-kuOsaka, Osaka PrefectureJapan.

Spot the shop with the Owl stickers on the door! I mean because I walked all the way from Osaka castle and it was on my right so I find it hard to tell you from where and which way you should go.

Spot this shop door! This is the Owl cafe
showing off my colored hair under the bright sun for nice color in the midst of queuing for our turn.

Basically, you spend 1000yen and they serve you a drink with one hour of time interacting with the owls. So remember to check your time before you go because they go by hour clock. OWL TIME!

owl shocked. LOL. look at my sunburnt anyway. sighs

Then my sister brought me to see one of the shrine in Osaka. Actually I was quite interested in these shrine, but we the sunburnt pain and walking all day long, my mood was dampened for any more walking let alone visiting shrines. I couldnt remember which shrine is this. If you want more details, email me personally at peiling.tan26@gmail.com and maybe I can answer some of your query.

And we walked, AGAIN to Tanimachi 9-chrome station. I think we did. or did we take the subway. I think we WALKED because I remembered I was dying from the walking again and we saw the destination, I quickly just want to find a place to sit down. Anyway, we went to Kintentsu Department Store ( recommended by my friend because it was a huge store that sells alot of things)

supermarket like our Tayashimaya that has an area that sells ready cooked food for takeaway.

We wanted to buy some to bring back to hostel to eat but we still have the next destination to go before the day end. Plus, I was to hungry and tired when we reached Kintentsu that I chose to eat Macdonald instead. I spent alot in the department store because I saw my favourite and extinct shop in SG that sells lingerie. There used to be one at Taka but it was gone no long after. Une Nana cool. Heard of it? I had so much that I wanted to buy but I would have short of cash if I really buy too much. So we left Kintentsu for Dotonbori. Dotonbori is the famous food district to go if you visit Japan - a tourist attraction so to speak. Alight at Namba station and you can just follow the crowd to Dotonbori. Spot the large billboards and illuminated signs.

Dotonbori the food district
We have the Shinsaibashi the shopping district just beside where endless shopping begins because you really cant see the end point.

The famous Glico billboard that everybody takes picture with.
And so I shall join in the fun too!

No pictures from the shopping because who take pictures when shopping!? LOL but we didnt really finish shopping the district because it was too long and we walked till the shops all closed at 9pm so we had no choice but to leave for home. Had Yoshinoya for dinner to end the day. Continue the shopping on day 4 definitely!

Japan/Taiwan trip - Day 2

Promise that I would blog on my Japan/Taiwan trip on my off day, so I need to keep my promise! If not I will never finish this trip posts. I am only at day 2 leh... omg. 12 more days of details waiting for me. Anyway if you want to backtrack on my trip, here's the link:

This post would be mostly photos because what else to write than to actually show you the wonders in Universal Studio Japan? Yes, we changed our schedule abit because initially I wanted to do some shopping first before going to attraction places but my sister checked on the weather forecast and realised that it might rain the few days that we were in Japan and the only possible forecasted sunny day was on the second day so there we go! About 20 - 30 mins away from our hostel, how awesome. The least we don't have to wake up so early to travel. Easily accessible by the subway; destination stop is Universal-city station. We were very kaisu of course, we wanted to spend the full whole day in USJ; there was too many things to see and play definitely. So if you want to be like us, the operating hours for USJ is from 0900 - 2200. Please go to their website and check again for the hours of the day that you will be visiting the theme park because there is variation. The period that we visited was summer holiday so I think hours were longer, or so I think. The ticket for USJ is about 7000YEN for each (SGD 86). The reason we wanted to go USJ and spent such money was because they recently opened the HARRY POTTER WORLD in July! The other harry potter world is at Orlando which I think for the near future I would not be going there. So why not take this opportunity to visit then! *Excited*
Let the magic begins!

my sis with her favourite character!

cookie monster!
my sister insist on taking with Elmo since she wore red as well! and whats the worth if you didn't take pictures with the mascot in USJ? But this Elmo is very popular among the kids, we waited for quite some time.

roller coasters!! our favourite!

You need to get this time slot ticket to enter the harry potter world. I believed is their way of crowd management because it just opened and it's holiday you see. Super packed. Remember to check out this detail before you visit USJ. Maybe there will be changes!

We waited for this mascot for so long! and under the freaking hot sun. I kid you not, It was summer at Japan and looked at my arms, already slightly sunkissed liao. Anyway, the mascot support told us we must be daring if not we can never have the chance. The kids are all snatching the mascot legs and hands to take picture with him and we have no chances at all! ( how do you fight with kids?!) The mascot support saw us hovering around for very long therefore the advice. We are worse than tourists.LOL

Jaw ride was the first ride we took. A boat ride which was okay.
Before I continue on more pictures, I would like to share on this tip for visiting attraction theme parks like this: if you don't mind separating with your friends or travel buddy when you take the ride, do consider the single ride queue. Reason being, the queue is much more shorter waiting time than the normal queue. We both don't really mind whether or not we can sit the same ride side by side ( some of the ride we actually get to sit together thou), because our aim is to enjoy as many rides that we planned to do so! Some of the normal queue goes up to twice the waiting time as compared to single ride, so why not! Back to the pictures!

no filter. Look at the clear sky.
in need of an ice cream or something cooling.

Can you see my sunburnt now?

Why don't we have this in USS?

The Jurassic Park ride which is not bad.
You get splashed and wet if you are suay!

A waste of our time. Don't go for this ride. Just a motion ride which we queue for nearly 2 hours. damn

THIS IS AWESOME! Second from harry potter ride.

we were lucky to get the backdrop one. There is two hollywood dream ride; the normal and the backdrop one. We only managed to take backdrop one because we are running late from the harry potter world if we take the normal one too. Yes single ride queue and still very long wait. The backdrop is basically backwards of the normal ride. So we actually ride backwards; the adrenaline that you can't see the ride path is the awesome part!

the game that my crazy sister spend on and did not manage to get the prize anyway. LOL

Entering Harry Potter World....

Welcome to Hogsmeade

The animated poster (It really moved like the one shown in movie)

monster book

hogswart castle

We were really too obedient to keep all our valuables and phones in the locker that we missed out on the beautiful interior design of the castle. Every other tourists were busy snapping away. Silly us. By the way, this ride was freaking damn long queue; I think it was 3 or 4 hours wait. I am serious. This is that crazy but it was really worth the wait.

Head to three broom stick for early dinner because we were too hungry.

A simple meal but cost 2550YEN. We bought just one to share.

The hogsmeade at night. beautiful isn't it?

The parade that we wanted to see! Here are a few of them because we practically took all the individual parade cars.

caught the last ride at spiderman which has zero queue and I would recommend as well.

Managed to buy some souvenir from spiderman retail for my boy because he likes spiderman, of course it is not cheap la. And this end the whole day in USJ. Very worth the money despite the scorching sun which make both of us suntan till very badly that when we went to Taiwan and the locals thought we came from the Kenting beaches. Day 2 USJ ended! Till then!
