2013

Yet another last day of the year. It seems so fast for this year. The last when I looked at my photos from the beginning of this year, it just seemed like yesterday! Like it seems just a few days ago I had long hair but it was actually beginning of the year.

Look at the strip!

So some highlight of this year :

1. Of course it goes to my change of hairstyle from super long hair to super short hair.
2. I watched my second musical - Phantom of the Opera in July, all thanks to my dajie. It was really fascinating
3. Went to Taiwan for the second time in April
4. Went to KL for a week doing nothing and just eat and relax in August - it was very impromptu thou
5. Went BKK with my cousin in September and bought very little loots; it's weird you know
6. I joined Onyx this year and had big time adjusting to my life because of the schedule; till now I am just barely accepting it
7. probably came as a surprise or maybe not, but my almost 4 years relationship came to an end, with many years of friendship down the drain as well
8. I was shocked, but irony I knew I had to accept because thats probably part and parcel of life - my birthday this year. wont want to reiterate again.

I guess this sums up for the year 2013. And of course I always like to believe that a new year ahead means a new beginning and probably a better one.

I probably only have one resolution for the new year - To do what I want to do

Thanks 2013.
and Hello 2014!

Updates for Xmas and Bday

Tried this Mokata on an inpromptu request some days back at Golden Mile. I would say okay its not bad, probably we were dead hungry I guess.

And then it was Xmas! :) It's nice to have friendly and sweet trainee who would buy gifts for us as Xmas Gift. Mostly chocolates and I believe I ate some of them without taking pictures. Appreciated their gifts!

Then it was Boxing day! which also means my bday of course. This year, I was sad cause if not for my family (of course the usual) and him, there could have been no one to celebrate my bday. I could have been staying at home on my bday with no cakes. =(  suppose that is growing up life and when you dont really have very close jie mei.

So as usual, my family always do a pre celebration for me because first, eating during xmas is way expensive and fully packed with people. Second usually I dont eat on my actual birthday. Third, it was just  nice that dajie and mom was on leave on a weekday so we had a buffet lunch. Which means I didnt have my crab. double the sadness. But oh well. So we had this buffet lunch at Royal Park on Beach Road. Seriously, I think it was really not that good, probably because it was Asian food more than international. I always like more variety for buffet; I like Todai. But my mom wanted a Xmas buffet and it was not easy to reserve as everybody is planning for early buffet as well. I didnt take any photos except the dessert which looked soso too and limited choices.

family photo and my super red hair which I love very much. Of course in real life it is abit darker and now it has gotten even darker. This was because of the lighting I guess.

Birthday Presents that I received this year.
from dajie because I requested it. Usually she gave me a big angbao. But well, I might as well get sth useful from her as present and not angbao.
Usual, Mom's present for me~

These are from a trainee who always buy me food and snacks, afraid that I am always hungry. She is really a very nice and treat me like her xiao mei.
These is from Shan, my sis! She got a similar pair as me too so that maybe we could wear this to Taiwan next year. Maybe!

This is from my trainer and his gf, Kay. very huge sweet-like wrapping with chocolates inside. so cute!

I did have nice celebration thou despite the sadness. Went into JB for my favourite food and some shopping. I didnt have photos because I simply forget, just wanna enjoy doing what I like and relaxing. So I had stingray and KangKong, Loklok which was ok because I couldnt find the right vendor that cook very nice Loklok, my usual nasi lemak whenever I go City Square, Sweet Crepe. All my favourite food!

I also went to the cafe at Bedok which I mentioned in previous post. To-gather cafe. I believe that it would have been better if there were lesser crowd cause the day I went, there was supposeingly a company celebrating Xmas so it was abit noisy. The food was alright thou. Well, one thing off the checklist at least!

This was my first bday cake on my actual day. Its hard to find a decent cake during xmas season! Everything is log cake or chocolate cake which I dont really fancy.
Bday gift from my other trainer~
And Onyx people did sing me a bday song with a cake bought from a trainee. I had the video on instagram thou. Thanks Onyx peeps!

So this ended my bday. I am still very happy to the one that helped celebrate my bday and accompany me for all the food that I favorited and thanks to everybody who wishes me and those who gave presents to me.

Happy Birthday to me

Xmas Eve

Time flies. It is already Xmas eve and not long enough, its another new year. Probably Im getting old or what, this year Xmas eve Im staying at home to eat steamboat with two others! Not a bad way to celebrate xmas isnt it? Of course two more days and it will be my birthday! Have received quite a few presents already - portable charger, moisturizer and cream, shoes. Pretty much all useful! My meimei is gonna get me a bag too! I actually post a instavideo on Kikki.k, almost want to get those stuff, like the turquoise clutch/the notebook/planner etc. Of course Im thinking Im not a student anymore and planner would serve no purpose for me. But its really pretty! so people if you happen to read my blog and want to send me presents, I jolly well am happy to receive! Just email me at youko_90@hotmail.com LOL. just kidding. Bet nobody will does that. But I just happy.

I will blog on my birthday after 26 as I have few plans to get busy with! excited and happy. Really not bad this year.

alrighty! gotta go and have my steamboat.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO EVERYBODY!

cheap deals VS service and quality

Sometimes, the deals on those social platform make me question their underlying purpose of advertising. The lack of customers and profit loss? Or just another channel of marketing to tap on more customers and buyers. Then after follows the question: if they make such deal, will the quality and standard follow suit as well since money=quality. Shouldnt they maintain the service or quality standard as well? Why the sudden topic on my blog then. let me explain.

I went to this Japanese restaurant at Raffles Place today because apparently my sister saw this deal on groupon and was pretty interested in it. It was from O'An Japanese restaurant located at Hong Leong Building B1. They got this 10 course meal for two and being Jap food lovers, we agreed to give it a try. So I sacrificed my sleep on a Saturday to go down to Raffles Place (afterwhich I still got to go gym). At first we were quite surprised there were alot of people and seemingly all groupon buyers. We had our seats and waited awhile before some staff came to take our orders. By the way, the 10 course meal includes and the order follows acccording to how we were served:

  • Potato Salad
  • Tori Karaage Deep-fried Chicken
  • Agedashi Tofu
  • Salmon Sashimi
  • Tempura Assorted
  • Tonkotsu Ramen
  • Edamame
  • Grilled Saba Fish
  • Temaki Handroll
  • Sukiyaki Hot-Pot
So the dish were served pretty slowly and one after another and not in one full set. We had to wait for quite some time before our Ramen was served. By the time we finished our ramen, there was no dish served to us already. We waited. and waited. Almost half an hour gone and they served us Edamame after we reminded them that half of our meal are not served yet. Again, we finished our Edamame and we reminded them for the food. For your information, we had our reservation at 1230pm and by 220pm we did not have our last three dish yet. Frustrated, I called the server and told him off for making us wait for 2 hours but not all our dishes were served. Seriously it was darn upsetting when you see other customers that came later than you had their meals and left while you sit there looking silly. Reminded them and they just shoved us with an answer of coming right up. Obviously it was not and there came my attitude. I insisted them to tell me how long do I still have to wait and here came the epic part; they do not have beef anymore and did not bother to inform us and only got the chef to prepare after I threw my attitude. Still can jolly well ask me if pork was fine and that she still can reply me saying just asking, you know for the sake of asking that kind. We ended up no appetite to finish the hot pot and left. This made me wonder and conclude: really we do have to pay for what we want and expect to have. I thought we were eventually still customers even though we might have bought some cheap deal for your restaurant. Very disappointing to say.

Anyway, go download this app called dayre if you have not. It is practically a mobile blog and way more easy to use and blog. You can just post pictures that you capture on the spot ( blogger cant do that, not that I know of). So I have actually post my photos on dayre! So follow me dayre.me/peilingg. I still blog of course but probably lesser pictures here I guess.

Festive mood?

Im having the festive mood alittle here and there. The fact that I know Xmas is coming, but I have yet enjoy the mood down town! Didnt have the time to do so. Cries. sucks to be having such work shift sometimes (or most of the time since I never stop complaining) Even if you are working for events, and you couldnt join your friends for countdown or celebration, but at least you still get to celebrate and join in the mood while working, you know you know?! Not for me, not at all. I didnt dare to take many leave to go have some relaxing times with friends and celebrate because it is busy period for us and yea I have actually taken quite a number of leave already. I need to grumble on this! No choice, when I am stuck there and cant meet my friends, the only times are for me to take leave and go holiday with whoever that is free to go with me (BKK with cousin, KL with friends etc). But you know.... I really would like to have few days off, meet up with my friends, go out and have some me-time, blah blah blah. I have got a list of things I want to do, but I need to dig out some time to do that.

Like, I wanna................

go Stranger reunion and have waffles! I heard alot about them and I want to go there! sweet stuff is my thing man!

Go to this cafe at Bedok North street 4 Blk 84 or something. Saw a couple of pictures of the cafe and I love it, hopefully it will be what I saw!

There's a street around Tiong Bahru that has book store and cafe!

ok now I see I am into cafe for this month.... hahaha

change my hairstyle/color and in this case color because I cant change much to my short hair already, can I? ok maybe not. (finally found time to do that this weekend!) Yipeeeeee

japanese buffet craving. Kiseki? Kushinbo? I don't know. I just miss Charcoal and the food.

Crabs! and I manage to jio my family for that, knowing that I am a total lover for crabs! hehe. I actually love seafood alot, except for maybe prawns. I have been accepting fish for a few years so yup! Clams, seashells,Lala, lobster, crabs, stingray, On!

having a picnic. relaxing and munching food. chatting all our life away and enjoying. (maybe Im going into depression thats y I am dreaming of all this)

download a few movies and watch with my snack! Didnt even have time for that. Im slping my Sunday which is my only day off away almost every time. Too tired. Can somebody take me in for a few months or what? I have not been slping well since the construction starts around my house and since when I have two phones. illusion of phone ringing or vibrating, I am undeniable crazy now. This suck. SOMEBODY, PLEASE TAKE ME IN!

ok I think my list will go on and on for this month when its already one week gone for December. Shit. I need to start buying presents for myself to distress and make myself enjoy this festive season.

ok I sound like some pathetic girl.

December

hello people! Its been a long time since I blogged again. because I have been playing this app called Dayre. Pretty interesting and I would say alot better than  blogger. I can just upload pics on the spot and add comments to that. Although I wanna Dayre/blog every day or so, but my life now kinda stuck at the same thing and there is nothing more interesting for me to post about. (I am sad) I need something interesting or whatsoever! Thats why I love December! It always bring me something nice. Like you know all the lightings out in the streets and town just easily make mi do some photoshooting and post. Not mentioning festive season always spells FOOD. I hope this December will be a fun one! Xmas is coming and bday is soon too! I need more photos of me and many other things and friends since I realised I have not had many photos of my short hair to post! How can that be? Please let December be a good one! I was stressed out and rather depressed during the novmber month. Trust me you do not want to hear me mention any. Oh well I shall post nice pics of my recent favourite and love during my boredom times.

USS Halloween 2013

A rather inpromptu outing with my sis and Sandy & GF. Sincerely thanks Sandy and his family for getting us the accomodation at hotel Michael after our Halloween night and of course the good food. So yes this is the first time I been to USS Halloween and I was thinking am I insane to promise my sis to go given the fact that I AM DAMN SCARED OF GHOST NIGHT WALK ( or halloween nights so to speak here). My experience during my poly orientation and camps was tragic for me - should I recall I had asthma attack after the first walk through. But it has been sometime since I went out with her for any events I suppose and didnt really want to leave her alone with her godfather and gf ; she will be the lightbulb then. So yes I decided to go with her and Sandy just booked a room for us that night. YIPEE to us cause I have not stay in Singapore hotel in the right manner (I had one night in fullerton but it was my sis wedding and we had to squeeze many ppl and end up slping on the floor). We went on the 26 Oct a Saturday and I was late because I had work on Saturday. ( shall not go over to the topic of how sian I felt sometimes) Plus it was madly packed at the monorail station at Vivo and I had to resort to walking into Sentosa. I didnt want them to wait too long cause I felt bad for being late so I practically jog all the way in. Sandy was super nice to tabao dinner for me cause they know I surely have not eaten and the crabmeat fried rice was superb I swear. I thought the fried rice was from the hotel or something but after supper and the next day lunch at the same place, I knew when it was coming from and how come it taste so good with big chunk of crab meat. AND I MEAN juicy ALASKAN CRAB MEAT. We dine at this restaurant at Crockfords tower called Feng Shui Inn. The food was really awesome and Sandy family is really big eaters. They order alot of food and they make sure you eat more than you can and really feel the bloatedness of your stomach. So anyway, we went to the Halloween night around 8pm and we started queuing for the first haunted house that was the nearest. It was "Possession". I thought I would be damn scared when we walked through the scare zone to the haunted house but nope I did not. In fact we were laughing around at those ghosts and monsters. The queue was freaking long and we waited and queued for almost 1.5 hours?! But we came out of the haunted house, disappointed. They led a bunch of us in, like a group of 20 to 30 people and we were supposed to walk through the house, being scared by the ghosts in there. But because it was too large a group and especially you are not the first one to enter, you already know where are the ghosts when the people in front of you scream and shout and stop when they see the ghosts or get scared. Plus the fact that I could not see a single thing in there because it was too dark, I was not scared by them AT ALL. pretty disappointing after a 1.5 hour wait and a less than 15 mins walk through with no feel? We wanted to queue for the next haunted house but it was at least a good 2 hour wait and that time it was already 11pm. So we gave up the queue and went for some rides, the enchanted and mummy and walk around the USS for photo-taking, scaring the zombies and laughing at people got scared. Concluded our night there at Louis Pizza where we had a large pizza shared by 4 of us but me and Sandy ate 2 large pieces. So overall, the USS halloween was really meh except that they really put in the effort this time round for more zombies and whatsnot around the USS so that we could really take many photos with them and props as well. We didnt just end our night there but headed back for supper (we were like WHAT?!) at Feng Shui Inn. See I told you how crazy Sandy family is. And the night ended around 4am when we KO back in the room till next morning 12 noon for check out. It was a good weekend spent with my sis and Sandy family. Good company make good days I suppose even though the event didnt turn out what we expected of. So below are some pictures I took, not alot but good for sharing. Kudossss

quick update

I have a sudden urge to write something. I dont have any idea what subject it should be. Probably some random thoughts again before I sleep. And it is 2am now. I have this love and hate relationship with my current job now. Love is because i have known alot of friends from here and they are really nice. The environment is really nth bad to say about. Hate is my life is kinda messed up because of the job cause i sleep pretty late. Wake up ptetty late for normal person because my work starts late and i got free time when nobody does and i work till late again. And this cycle repeats when i reach home and settle down for the end of the day. Kinda sucky so to speak because i rarely have chance to meet my friends for dinner or outing because i only have sunday off and usually sleeping off the day because i am dread tired. Which everybody doesnt understand why when my job scope is simple.
Second i really want to go for a short getaway. I dont know why but perhaps thats what mpst people would love to do too; travel. I just feel very tight up and moody staying in sg with my current life like this. Feel that im trapped in a box and i really dont like it.
Third i seriously think i should get away from my job for awhile. Did i mention i had this illusion that the phone will ring or vibrate whenever i am catching my sleep. Seriosuly i am lacking and deprive of sleep every single day. And curse the govt or town council for having construction IN FRONT and BACK of my flat which cause me to wake up everyday without fail at 8am! Im sorry because i suppose only me who start work at 1130 unlike the normal office hour people. But still, i curse them. For making me deprove of sleep. Say that i am ridiculous or unreasonable, i couldnt care for now because i really am freaking tired everyday!
Anyway my halloween post will be up spon. Stay tune and sorry for the late update.
Ok i need to go to lalaland before i wake up at bloody 8am because of that damn construction.

Friends

Sometime back in end of September, I met up with my different clique of friends over the weekend. Seriously, you really don't need alot alot of friends, just that few good friends would be enough. More than enough for your life. Therefore, I really felt a fruitful and enjoyable and probably one of the best weekend.

This was on Saturday where I rushed to meet them after my work to a Halal restaurant in CCK park. The food was reasonably priced and not bad too. My polymates and their partners. It was really heartwarming to meet up with them despite the once in a while gathering. We just talk about anything. I am really glad I have them all along. all these while.

Some time back in June/July where we met up after almost a year?

Friday I met up with my uni mates. The close ones that I had my uni life with, all the projects and the jokes and the assignments. Only get to meet Eugene and Jo thou. But it was nice already. Had our lunch at Strictly pancake (one of the place that we visit during our uni times). And suddenly I miss our times in USA. Those 5 weeks were a great deal for us and an experience. Those moments with them were superb. 5 weeks of staying together with good friends were really something worth the missing.

Some time back in May where I went phuket first time with these two silly. HAHA. quite of an experience too for some of my first time. hahaha

Then on Sunday, had a kbox session and Aston dinner with my other clique of close uni friends. This pic was taken on Amanda bday cele. We unfortunately do not have one group photo for that day because it was pretty awkward with HY friends around. I mean we had great kbox session but it seems weird to be asking them to take group photo with us. Maybe the coming event that we discuss to meet up for might bring me some photos! The USS halloween! hoepfully we are going! (thou I am super damn timid)

I am so glad I have them. =)

Bangkok Trip 14 to 17 Sept 2013

I must say this time round I was fairly disappointed with this trip, but not to the extent of not enjoying a holiday trip overseas. Lets start the trip with a good note first. As I have probably mentioned, I am flying alone to Bangkok first time. I must say this experience is superb seriously. I don't know about how others will feel but to me, AWESOME. I went in the departure hall and stroll around the airport with my earpiece on, looking at families and couples with happy faces. But I don't feel as if I am a loner so pathetic to travel alone, instead I felt so cool. Laugh at me all you want , I don't care. And of course I board the plane taking the window seat. Jetstar wasn't full packed for my flight and I could see few young couples sitting at the next few rows opposite. I feel so proud for god no reason when they looked at me with some alien expression ( like it is so weird for me to travel alone and so pathetic look). And so I laned in BKK after that usual uncomfy flight because of the seats that were as straight as a wooden plank as always. Alone and happily felt ever brave and cool, I took the Rail train with my luggage and alight at the nearest station near my hotel. The first night I stayed at Baiyoke Hotel, so it was actually easy for me as it is the ever most popular hotel that nobody will not know. So if I were to lost my way, I could ask for direction without them giving me those question marks. There were road direction to the hotel but was missing halfway along the road and I thought of my smart way to find the hotel. I looked for the tallest building in the sky! Yes, Baiyoke sky hotel is one of the tallest building around the area. AND TADAH I reach BKK and my hotel safely alone! *claps claps*  My cousin and aunt went out as they reached BKK earlier than me so I was left alone in the hotel and famished. I wanted to go out and buy dinner but was afraid they come back and couldnt find me so I waited. Lucky they came back just in a moment after but were out again to watch the cabaret show which I rejected. So I went out to walk on my own and bought the ever first food and one of my fav street food - Banana prata from this Indian man. ( video can be found in my instagram account- peilingg26). Walked to Platinum mall and to realise it was closed - they close at 730pm, so sad! So I head back to hotel with rather empty stomach because I was tired. Anyway this is Baiyoke Sky hotel with three beds. Rather big hotel but thats about it, Nothing too fanciful or great. Plus if you are BKK, you rather stay in a boutique hotel with a cheaper rate and spend more on shopping than to stay in this overrated hotel, imo.
up at 64th floor

The next day we woke up super early for breakfast at floor 81. Normal international buffet I would say. My cousin love this kind of buffet thats why we decide to stay there for the first day. After which we check out and head to Citin Pratunum hotel, the next two days of our stay. This hotel was pretty not bad, considering that they have got a tuktuk service for free but only to the only nearest bts station, which is not bad already. Its not time for check-in so we left our luggage at the lobby and head to Chatuchak Market via BTS. I should say take BTS more instead of tuktuk or cab. You really save more.

Obviously I won't have much photos for Chatuchak ( even thou I did not buy anything from there! saddening). It was the famous ever Market that sells cheap stuff not just clothing but a wide range from glass, flowers, wood and food. I would advice people to grab a map or check where is the exact location that sells clothing, you know shopping for girls. Because we freaking walk for don't know how many hours in there, through the alley and section but never to the clothing section, THAT IS WHY I did not buy anything. All exhausted and sweaty after the walking and we left the place. I was so demoralized. And seeing I did not buy anything, my aunt and cousin were shocked too because they were all crazily buying like nobody business. LOL. So we head back to the hotel totally dead- we lost our way after alighted BTS station ( I know the way actually... but my aunt and cousin insisted). Still we head to Platinum mall for shopping because I bought an empty luggage to BKK so I need to at least get some clothes for next day. I did but not much thou. And we ended day two - probably the best thing that happened on day two was the dinner we had at Platinum mall food court. Always love the Phad Thai there! Woke up super early the next day for morning market because from experience they do have some cheap and good stuff. However, after two days of morning market on day three and last, I realised unless you buy in bulk purchase which is at least 3 and above, it wasnt really a great deal unless you super love that piece. That might be the problem with me not buying many because I don't really fancy many of them. Then we continued at Pratunam market which again is a good deal if you buy in bulk i.e one piece for 200 bath, 3 pieces for 100 baht each. OF COURSE, 300 baht is like SGD 10 odds so why think so much?! JUST BUY. Im sorry, but something went wrong with my head that I didnt do all these impulsive buying. Somehow I regretted thou because actually some basic tops can be bought in bulk in different colors. Doesnt really mean wasted. oh wells... Then we head to Platinum mall but the zones that sell shoes and bags instead. And there I bought my shoes there, 3 pairs. Probably my best buy in BKK and favourite. In the afternoon we head to Siam for Naraya and MBK but left empty handed. Seriously, I have walked my whole life there ( okay I know I oversaid it, I did not but it seemed like) Practically walked almost 3km back from MBK to hotel which is near Baiyoke Sky. AND we walked there to, not to mention. I was freaking hungry by then not to say T-I-R-E-D.  Head back hotel early because nobody has the strength to shop more. Plus it was the day before we had to leave for home so needed some time for bag packing. Woke up on the last day early for morning market, this time really early at 630am or so because my flight is at 1140am and I had to leave at 830am. Anyway if you do stay around Baiyoke sky area, do take note of this road stall that sells porridge in the morning, damn awesome seriously! We had that for two days for breakfast. And off I go to the airport after some last minute shopping. So you see, I DID NOT buy much and was super sad for it. Initally, I was contemplating on whether to extend my stay but with many consideration like I will be alone in BKK, gym has no one to manage, and my family will kill me to agree on staying in BKK alone. BUT it was just $50 for me to extend my flight. sighs. The best thing of the trip - food as always.

These two were taken in this restaurant called Fuji Japanese restaurant, at one corner of the food court in Platinum mall. I would strongly encourage and recommend this restaurant because it is so darn cheap and the food is superb. I treat them for this meal and the total bill was only 780 Baht which is SGD30 odds! Where can you find a restaurant in SG that you can order salmon, teriyaki chicken, beef set and cost SGD 30?! no way man. Plus they got a few side dish to come with and fruits plus tea.

The Tom Yam Goong from Platinum mall food court. YUMS

My ever favourite Phad thai from the food court as well. I remembered the last time I came BKK, I ate this dish twice and still find it awesome. This is how much I love it!

Home Sweet Home. Till then!
