last month of 2014
Time really flies. Its December again and Im going 24 soon. Reminder to myself, I probably need to finish my Taiwan/Japan post by end of this year. Have been dragging for too long. A drastic change to my life recently and I have been coping with the changes. Think in another way; pushing myself out of the comfort zone and doing things that may help in future may not be a bad thing. Afterall, is out of the comfort zone, definitely not as expected and it wont be smooth sailing if it is a out-of-your-zone thing. I will update again, sometime soon.

Japan/Taiwan trip - Day 1
*update for the links if you would like to read on for my trip in Japan!
This is going to be a long post. You have been warned. If you want to skip the drama mama, you can skip the first two para. Otherwise, you can read to find out how we dealt with cancelled flight last minute.
The good thing doesn't last, and bad thing followed up. resting at Novotel was really one kind of luxury (To me at least because whenever I travel with my sis, we always stay pretty budget accommodation). We had a good rest with two fluffy pillows each and woke up for international breakfast buffet and off we go to the airport to JAPAN. Our flight is at 1105hr at Taoyuan and we arrived at the airport pretty early, I remembered it was 0830ish. Searched for the screen to check on our counter number and realised there is none on our flight. Nevertheless, we thought we were early and just head straight to the counter of our airline. We have bought Peach airline to fly to Japan. When we were at the counter, there was a freaking long queue and after all the commotion, we realised that the queue was so long because their flight was cancelled since yesterday and only able to fly on the day. My senses told me something was wrong. So, I went to check the screen again while my sister queued and true enough there really was none on our flight. So I wanted to check with the counter attendant and the duty manager hold something on his hand and was ready to stick it below the screen.
I don't know what has gotten us for this trip but yes, our flight was cancelled and that was the announcement. I was like WTF, not again?! Went to check with the duty manager on our situation, along with a couple of people with the same flight as us. We were told to do the flight changes online directly with Peach airline and quickly changed it to 1130hr (the long queue for that flight). But apparently, nobody could get in, with us using wifi and with the taiwanese using their own data. Seriously, this was insane. I was like, wtf wtf are we gonna stuck in the airport again, or staying in taiwan again to wait for next flight? I was anxious and I told the duty manager that we came from Singapore and we were not notify of the cancellation of flight thru emails or whatever mode. Zero. The rest of the people had some commotion, and asked if they can be fully refund. They gotten their answers of course, and THEY LEFT. WHAT THE HELL. I mean we can't really do that, where can we go?! Quickly asked my sister to liaise with our insurance agent to check on our situation and see if we do need to stay, can we claim for it. In the meantime, I persist that we need to fly to Japan today and asked if the duty manager could give us an suggestion. Apparently, they could not help us to change our flight timing to 1130hr ( I don't know why). So, he suggested to us that we could check with other airlines and gave us a list of timing and airlines that are flying to Japan today. FOL seriously, what if we need to incur cost again to change airline. No other choice, my sister went to check on the other airlines while I insist on waiting that the duty manager find a solution for us. There must be some ways to solve and help us, I believe. I think the duty manager can sense our anxiousness and lost as well, because he was trying very hard to find ways to help us get onto the 1130hr flight, as well. (The flight was not full yet) I think heaven pity us two girls and didn't really want us to be stranded in the airport and finally they managed to get the Peach airline to change the flight for us via phone call ( According to what the duty manager say, their office line doesn't operate on Sunday). and IT WAS 1045hr when we knew that we could changed our flight. Quickly got my sister back via Whatsapp because she was still looking for airlines and she had both our passport. AND YES WE HAD TO RUN ALL THE WAY IN THE AIRPORT AND OUR BOARDING GATE WAS ONE OF THE LAST. FOL SERIOUSLY.
I usually don't sleep during flight because I couldn't seems to sleep well but when we finally settled down on the plane, I fall asleep. Guess after all the drama mama, we were exhausted. Anyway, Peach airline was not bad, better than Jetstar for sure. It's more spacious and the chair was not so upright till you are sitting like a robot. I kid you not. This is what happen when I sit Jetstar. That also explains why I couldn't really sleep. Anyway, after 2 hours plus, finally we reached JAPAN. OHAIYO NIHON!! To save on our budget, we didn't take a cab, instead we took the subway train which of course took a much longer time to get to our lodging place. A good 2 hours of travelling on the train which really took all my energy. Showing you our Osaka lodging for our 5 nights in Japan!
A very simple room for 3 pax. We asked for a 2 pax private room but we were upgraded to a 3 pax room instead! This was taken in a wide angle mode for your information! Considering that we won't be staying in the hostel room for long because most of the time we would be out in the street, we decided on a hostel which would cost less to our wallet. In case you are wandering, we booked this hostel in June I think and it was almost full. Initially we wanted to try other hostel because this was the previous lodging that my sister stayed before, but no luck! Apparently it was summer holiday for them and taiwan so everywhere was quite packed. Nevertheless, I would say this is quite worth it for us. Oh one thing to mention, as you can see, it is just a room with a bunk bed and a single bed at the corner. There is a mini fridge and a small side table as well. So where is the toilet? Well, it is a shared toilet outside our room. There was only one toilet for the female at our level. If not you could use the toilet at the lobby as well. I don't mind, neither does my sister so we find this alright. But if you need a private washroom to yourself, I suggest you not to book this hostel. Otherwise everything is good. I left out the shower part. You need to go to the lobby to shower thou. There is two private shower room and one public bath for female only. Since we are at this topic I shall tell you my experience. For the first day (which is this post), we had an early light off as we were really too exhausted. So after having our dinner, we head back to the hostel to have our shower already. As we were early, the private showers were both empty for use. But for the rest of the day we were in Osaka, we had to use public bath because there were queues when we got back from touring and shopping. As tired, we just want to get ourselves clean and off to bed because every single day we were sweating like crazy. At first, I was abit awkward because we had to strip naked at the powder room before we step into the bathing room. Even thou all are girls but you know, it is not something that we will do with people around. But when you see the locals being normal and all that, I get used to it the next minute already. Then, we realised we are the only few who dare and were willing to use public bath because those who came to stay here were mostly taiwanese, Thais and other non local. So, we had the bath to ourselves practically. There is a hot sauna inside the bathing room as well. Very relaxing to soak in after showering. So, do check this hostel out if you intend to do a budget lodging planning:
Hotel Raizan North
Nishinari Shin-imamiya, 1-1-3 Taishi, Nishinari- ku, Osaka, Japan
Tel: 81-6-6647-2193
http://www.chuogroup.jp/kita/en/
Total lodging cost for 5 nights in Osaka: Approx. SGD 300 ; so one night is SGD 60 which means each of us paid SGD 30 per night! I would really say worth it. Given that it is at the CBD area which is quite accessible to many places via train. Japan train station map is very overwhelming for a first timer so take your time to study it because our hostel has actually two stations that you can alight. ( It is like MRT and LRT, so dont get confused)
Shin- imamiya Station (supposingly this should be the main line or something)
Dobutsuen-mae Station (this station is just right outside the hostel)
Look for this black building if you book Raizan hotel!
Yes and because we book our dinner reservation at a themed restaurant, so when we check in to our hostel, it already 5pm and our reservation is at 630pm. So basically, I just washed my face and off we go to for our dinner. It is a prison-themed restaurant near Tennoji station. We alight at Umeda station thou and went to ask the security guard of a mall for direction because my sister didnt know the place. According to the website, it say a 5 min walk from Tennoji station which i vividly remembered that there is the station just beside the building of the restaurant. Anyway, just ask for direction if you do not know the way but remember to show them the japanese address instead.

Now to bring you food that we ordered.

| omelette rice |

| hotpot beef which is awesome. This is really good |
![]() |
| Very colorful and interesting mocktails and cocktails they have. You just want to order all of them and try! |
![]() |
| To suit the theme and have some picture-worthy drinks to post, we order these two! |
![]() |
| Green apple soda, that is. Refreshing drink for me. I like! |
![]() |
| my sister's drink: grapefruit orange I think. no, not my liking. Grapefruit is too bitter for me. |
![]() |
| If you have a chance to visit the restaurant, order this because I think it is their signature but we were craving for beef too much to care about pork or chicken. |
![]() |
| Dessert time!! I was still burning with tears over the stupid TIME BOMB TAKOYAKI. For picture-worthy again, I order this biscuit dessert. It was not bad. |
![]() |
| my sister's. All cream. which I dont fancy. There is some cake in it if I remember correctly. |
A summary of this prison-themed restaurant:
It was pretty interesting given that they really lead you into the theme well. The hostess are warden who would handcuff (yes, real handcuff) you to your cell. Very dim and dark atmosphere throughout to make you feel a surreal mix of bizarre and horror.
The cell that you dine in is quite small thou. The other staff are dressed as prisoners.
We were lucky to experience their highlight of the restaurant; at certain point of time, they will off the light totally and bring you into the world of the monstrous prison whereby frantic announcement were made(in japanese of course), explaining that the prisoners of the cells have escaped and various sound effect were projected to scare you ( like the ghostly voice of a girl etc). Then the prisoners ran around scaring the diners (we were so suay to be seated beside a group of jap young girls we supposed, because they have been screaming non-stop). The rogue prisoners and ghosts would try to scare you by crazily hitting your cell door(its closed) and opening your door suddenly. Whatever that you can think of with the link of ghosts and rogue. Of course dont worry, they wont touch you. A very good 15-20mins of this theme line-up.
I believe they have an english menu if you asked, if not it would be like the Japanese menu we took with lots of pictures.
Make reservation if you want to dine in this restaurant because it can be full house at times.
For the above food that we ordered, we spent approx. 5,600YEN (SGD70). If you like to experience a little fun and adventurous themed restaurant, I would recommend this. Food are of average thou. Oh and just a last point, they have a limit dining time of 90mins (so that there is no hogging of the seats)
And this end my first day in Osaka, Japan. Wait for next post of my Japan trip!

Japan/Taiwan - Pre trip preparation
Hello peeps! Promise that I will do up my Japan/Taiwan trip after I come back before I forget the details and write nothing on it. So here I am, updating you guys for the trip. First up is the pre trip preparation. This is extremely important especially if you are travelling for a longer period of time, at least a good 1 week and above. So anyway, I probably have mentioned it in one of my post that me and my sister bought the taiwan return tickets very advance, like Aug/Sept 2013?! That was a good 1 year of planning ahead. ok Im kidding, we didn't really took one year to plan, just happen that there were promo for air tickets and we already agreed to go on a holiday after she graduated. Initially our plan was to go Japan, but because Dajie didnt really encourage us to go so we have to change our destination. We couldn't go too far either, because it was very expensive and I can't take so long leave away. So we bought our taiwan return tickets at SGD 261 including tax, without much hesitation when we saw the promo up. Pretty cheap I would say, considering that the first time I went Taiwan with her, we freaking bought the tickets at SGD 500. With the air tickets, we decided to slowly think where to go and plan that 2 weeks. About a month or so later, we realised we didn't really have many places that we wish to go, partly because it was summer and we didn't really wanna rush our itinerary just to visit as many places. The travelling will eat up the days too. That was when my sister decided to look at Japan tickets again. So yes we were crazy enough to buy the tickets to fly from Taiwan to Japan and back to Kaohsiung since we are planning to go from South to North. The ticket damage was SGD 430 including tax for flying peach airline to Japan and back to Taiwan.
Then we start our detailed planning with the lodging and reservation for restaurants earlier this year around March I think. We always think it is better and cheaper to book early because they would have early bird discount or advance booking promo or some sort. Some of the website you may want to consider using is airbnb and booking.com. Airbnb has mostly apartments and units that are reasonably priced. Beneficial for people who are on budget travelling. We are not that budget travelling maybe we are but I don't really fancy staying in too budget hotel because I hate to travel without resting well. To go on a trip is to have nice hotel to stay, isn't it? But of course, I wouldn't say we would have to stay in 4 or 5 star hotels. No point when most of the time we are out of the room. Read up on a few reviews before we decide to stay in which hotel. Lodging will be up as I go along the post. For the itinerary, we searched on the places that we want to go and planned it out so that we won't travel everywhere. You definitely need to plan something out to save on the travel time and cost. My sister did a spreadsheet out, yes she did. It includes the places to go on which day and what is the address and direction if any so that we wont be lost. Of course, we usually end up changing our itinerary abit!
Next would be the luggage packing. As we are going on a long trip, a 15 days trip to be exact, we can't possibly bring 15 days worth of clothes. That's why one of the things that we check with our hotel is whether there is any laundry service so that we could wash our clothes. As much as we didn't want our pictures to all look the same with the same clothes, but we also didn't want to bring so much clothes that it take up half of our luggage weight. Of course, we could have just buy new clothes; we would anyway in some ways. But I wouldn't want to risk not having clothes to wear because I didn't buy alot of new clothes, and end up buying any clothes or expensive ones just for the sake of having clothes to wear. One thing that I would suggest and I probably would do it next time when I go for these kind of trips - buy more luggage weight. 20kg is supposed to be enough for each as we have already roughly know where the weight will come from. However, going on a trip like this, especially to Taiwan, would definitely kill your luggage weight of 20kg. Personally, I like taiwan clothes and stuff because they are more closer and suitable for me. Plus all those souvenirs and goods that you would have to bring back for your family, friends, bf, gf, cousins, relatives, colleagues. 20kg is not enough.
Another important thing to do: BUY INSURANCE. seriously I kid you not. You may always think there won't be anything that will happen. Trust me, the things that you thought wont happen, will always happen. The story goes here:
Our flight to Taiwan was 0115 on 10 August, which means to say we have to be in the airport at around 11pm, 9 Aug. Now here's the panick part. Because the flight details are under my sister account, so any news or update will be through her. She came back from the Commonwealth games on 8 Aug, around night time. Around 8plus, she message me and say that Jetstar informed her via sms that our flight is delayed and the flight will be changed to 1610pm on 10 August. It wasn't a big deal if we are just flying to Taiwan only, the big thing here is we are flying to JAPAN from TAIWAN on the same day as well. It is like a transit for us because our Japan flight is at 1115am on 10 Aug. So we quickly tried to call Peach airline in hoping to change the timing of the flight but to no avail. We called to Jetstar and ask for the next available flight, hoping that we can arrange something out of it. And YES, there is a flight to Taiwan at 710am on 9 Aug. It was already going to 11PM on 8 Aug when we knew of such information. With no choice, we had to take the 710am flight so that we would not miss our Japan flight. This left us with less than 6 hours to pack and settle everything. Lucky, we bought insurance because we had to stay over at Taiwan for a night since we decided to fly on 9 Aug, and the lodging expenses can be claimed. There is no extra charge for the change of flight schedule thou. So we hurried and call back to Jetstar and confirmed the changes. In the meantime of waiting them to send us our booking confirmation and reference number, we had to rush and pack our bag. (we actually planned to pack it on 9 Aug only). Quickly, we booked an airport hotel and we left home at 430am to the airport.
Tadah! Arrived at airport in the afternoon around 2pm. My first drink in Taiwan and my favourite. Bought some herbal tea egg to munch too.
Because we could claim for the one extra day in Taiwan, why not stay in a good hotel then? Novotel is one of the few airport hotel anyway.
This is what I am talking about. To go on a trip is to stay in nice hotel. You feel like you are really going on a trip. BUT, yes I know... because we are kinda on a budget or sort and staying in such luxury hotel is a waste of money. Taken by a wide angle len.
Since we have half a day in Taiwan, we decided to go to Taipei to have our meal and to do what we planned to do on Saturday - Haircut. We supposed to do it in Singapore before going off for trip. So, we took a highspeed railway to Taipei which cost NT160ish (about SGD 7?). It is way more faster than to take a normal train or a bus. 20 mins and you are at Taipei. And the food that I missed the most in Taiwan....
YES! my braised pork meat rice aka ru rou fan. I am serious, this is the best food that you really have to eat when you go Taiwan. If you have not know, I ate this almost everyday for supper when I first came to Taiwan with my sister.
I mean... LOOK AT THAT. Crap, I miss this food as I am writing this post now. I wish Singapore has it.. It is super affordable anyway. One small bowl of rice cost NT35 (SGD 1.50) and because I love it so much, I could eat 2 bowls and its SGD3 only. To be honest, you won't be full for 2 bowls because it is really small portion. But in Taiwan, you don't just eat to the brim for a meal because there are street food and local food that you shouldn't miss. So I would say 2 bowls are just nice.
Then we went to the largest night market in Taipei - Shilin night market. I don't really have pictures for this because we seriously have been to this night market too many times. If you want some photos ( there ain't many too) of Shilin, you can refer to my previous Taiwan trip 2013 here: http://peilingg.blogspot.sg/2013/08/taiwan-trip-day-4-and-5.html. My first trip to Taiwan was in the other blog that I have closed, so too bad. For your benefit, Shilin Night market is at Jiantan Station so don't alight at the wrong station even thou there is Shilin station actually. OH and remember to get the easycard that you can use for their bus and metro train ( Just like our ezlink card in SG).
So that's all for a night in Taiwan before we really begin our real trip. Till then!
*update for the links in case you want to continue to read on for my trip!

My first run
Trust that I would post frequently, but nope! Its another 2 months since last post. Shit. But to be honest, I don't think I have anything interesting to post, except maybe occasionally some random thoughts or so. But, I just.. pure lazy to write, sometimes I have the urge to come in and just write. You know, just pen down whatever shit that came across. Obviously, I didn't. Guess the years show one thing; everything is kept within that you don't even want to write or talk about it. Maybe just for me.
So anyway, I changed my job, yes I mentioned it in my previous post. I am doing good, at least now that I learnt how to use photoshop and have design quite abit of marketing materials like banner, standee, roadshow, poster, flyer etc. Pseudo designer you may call me. HAHAH. more to come, more to come. Maybe one day I really can produce something good. SO basically I am busy with my work.
Life is still good, everyday after work I would come home to see my niece. You may not know, but to see a happy baby smiling at you or simply just watching her do her stuff can really bring you out of the world for awhile. Out of the pretentious and fake world. The complicated and the norms. Thats why I always enjoy watching her in the morning before i go work and after work when I come home. I wish she will stay this happy always, but... you know she has to grow up to this world. oh well, enough said for such negative thoughts about the world. She is only 5 months.
Oh and I join my first run since like, secondary?! I used to remember I would participate in secondary sports day or something. Each class had to send like 10 competitive and 10 non-competitive to run marathon at the reservoir. But I didn't get any medal from the run back then because obviously I couldn't be the top 3 or even top 10. blah. So I saw this garfield run and i told shan and Alvin to join with me! I took up the fun run 3km first because I seriously have no confident in running 5km competitive. And for the fun run, we all get a medal as long as we complete within the stipulated time! Weeeeee so I actually got a medal, and kudos for me for completing the run. Initially I thought I would end up brisk walking because how freaking long have I not run and suddenly just take part in this 3km run!? But I prove myself wrong, I could at least jog all the way! :)
About another 2 weeks I would be going for a trip with Shan! The last time we went for a trip together was 4 years? I forget. So I would definitely blog again soon on the trip. Hopefully not another 2 months later. More pictures to come!

backlog again
I need to be apologetic on this and feeling guilty because I promise myself to blog frequently but fail to do so for close to 2 months?! The last post was on March; I'm utterly lost of words on how long have I not been blogging. And because so, I tend to forget tiny winy bits of things in my life. Me and my small brain. So now I can only post things that I can remember, which obviously wasn't alot to begin with.
My niece! seriously I could not emphasize more that she is so darn cute. Every morning and after work when I am back home, I would talk to her for awhile. She probably might not understand what I say, but sometimes just looking at her playing by herself or blabbering some noise that nobody understand, it just makes me happy.
She is now 3 months old and could do many funny things already. Blabbering to herself. sticking her tongue out which will get scolding from my mom. Everyday she is trying to flip herself over and always eagerly looking around.
I need to post this. LOL damn hilarious. I think my sister force her to do this because I believe she cant point fingers yet. BUT, still as funny.
And yes the past one month in April which I did not blog AT ALL was because I changed my job. yeaaa like finally ever since I have been nagging over the working hours at onyx. I didnt say Onyx is not good, Onyx is fun and everything because I get to know alot of people there and most of them are friendly. I just have this working hours issue. Drop this topic. So anyway, I have changed to a marketing firm working as a marketing executive. Still coping good and doing fairly well. I could manage my time better too. Alot to learn still!
Then I got to meet up with my few closer uni mates for qq birthday celebration on last sunday,11 May. Having a weekend like this was really pretty much awesome. We chat, we laugh and we eat. This were taken at Orange Thimble where we so called had our tea-party. Then some of them left for celebration and dinner. So the four of us, qq amanda sybil and me head to wimbly lu for some desserts. I have to take nice pictures of the place next time! It was really one of the nicer cafe and ambience. The waffles were good too. Till next time, more pictures!

Master of none
I have got the urge to blog some thoughts again.
I have been thinking what exactly am I good at. Everybody sure has something that she/he is good at, not perfect but at least good. Like my sister, she is good at Table Tennis; has been playing since she is primary 3? My xiaomei, good at dressing herself up; can say that she is amongst us 4 the prettier one. Me? I am thinking....
I am not good in studies, only have one semster of honor award and I have my Bs and Cs.
I am not good in dressing up either; zero makeup skills and dressing sense. The most clothes I wear are tee and shorts. Occasionally, I wear dress. I wanted to dress up on some days but always fail when I look at my wardrobe. I don't know is it I lack of some interesting clothes or I really don't know to dress up. I tried to look at lookbook and ootds, but I couldnt really bring those up on me.
I am not good in music. I was in musical band before but didn't manage to participate in SYF. My percussion skills wasnt up there yet. Everything was half way there and not. Xylophone half, snarl drum wasnt up to the standard, not to mention drum set. I self learned piano, I remembered I ask my sister to play Canon in D for me repeatedly so that I can see how it is played. And I practiced and practiced. And finally I managed to play it with both hands but it wasn't the full song. I probably only can play two or three songs on piano.
I cant bake.
I cant really draw well either. I drew some drawing when I was young. But it didn't really pass. Probably can find and post some up and you can see
I am not good at singing, but I do love to sing thou.
There are really too many things that I do and did before, and I just realised I didn't know what I am good at actually. Seems like..... nothing. zero. I am depressed; seems like there is nothing for me to be proud of.Jack of all traits, master of none. At times, I thought I really fail as a student, as a teen, as a youth, as a growing adult. And I was told this:
"Do your best in everything you do"
I probably and really am not good in anything, but I can do my best in anything that I do, right?\ Conciously keep looking for the answers don't help and probably just build a barrier between what I need to do, to the best.
I guess, just live my life fullest and don't think so much! haha. No worries, just some random thoughts, I am not emo-ing.

CNOS V3.0 Entry
Cineleisure has always been one of my favourite place to go especially during my teenage years. Remember the olden days where Cineleisure is a must-go place during the weekends. We would just basically spent the whole day in there singing k, catching up some movies, crazily shouting over the arcade games we played because we were too excited and eager to win the game.... arhhhh those were the young days.
I saw this CNOS V3.0 and was hesitating whether to join or not.... then I decide
"ONLY ONE CHANCE PER YEAR, GIRL"
So here I go~ For my food option in Cineleisure
This shouldn't be unfamiliar to you guys if you have been to Cineleisure. This Graffiti Cafe is located at Basement, down the escalator and you will see it! :)
I always have to eat this when I visit Cineleisure, no kidding. It's perfect when you just don't feel like having main course for meals and want to continue shopping after a bite.
Plus if you don't want to eat noodles, thats fine! Because they have a few desserts too!!!
Another reason to choose this shop is because of their graffiti wall. Aint they colorful and artistic?! They have repainted the wall I presume, if not you can actually see people leaving messages on the wall!
HOW COOL IS THAT TO DRAW ON THE WALL LEGALLY? YOU TELL ME
Ok. Enough of the interior, time for my food! Wanton Mee with Black Sauce~
And not forgetting this Lemon lime Aiyu Jelly! A sweet and sour drink with smooth Jelly, my all time favourite! Try this if you don't mind spending alittle more for such awesome drink.
Not forgetting selfies of me :)
That's all for the entry post!!
